...."fuhhh...at last i reached at pantai kelulut after 4 hr of swimming in the ocean...this year was really tough as many swimmer drifted far away from the finishing point...most of them are 1st timer like me"...hehehe...we as a team from ombak swimming club made our move on friday night from p.akuatik s.alam...later on we reached at jeti marang around 7.oo am...thanks for our driver, mr Luvis, mr Hafizi and mr Wan...
the registration was opened at 9.30 am...later on we got into the boat and off to pulau kapas...while on the boat, we manage to saw how scary the wave was...deep in my heart, i know that tomorrow will be very challenging for me....no doubt i was so nervous as the wave was keep on rockin the boat....we reached at the kapas island resort at 12 p.m...thanks for our group member who booked the room for our team...you guys memang best!most of them are all swimming coach...hehe...that is one of the reason why am i participating in this event...swim in group!hehe...
at 4 pm, we attend the race briefing...most of the swimming coach from ombak club 'kembang hidung' as mr Chan introduced to all participant that this year swimathon will be participated by 8 years old kid...hehehe...besides that, there were 9, 10 and 13 years old kid from ombak swimming club will be joining the event...credit to all ombak swimming coach!hehe...after the race briefing, we as a team went for water test...mr Bu asked us to swam to the 1st buoy which is located 1 km from pulau kapas...we were lead by those kid until reached at the 1st buoy...then we were doing water trade for a while in order to make our self calm and ready for tomorrow... going back to pulau kapas from the 1st buoy was really challenging as the current started to revealed its power...we were drifted away from the location where we started....lucky for us as we managed to reached at the beach before dark...fuhhhh...is it a bad sign??hehe who knows...
later on, we went for carbo loading...yummy...the resort prepared a lot of food even though we need to wait for a while for food to be refilled...burpppp....hehe...after that, we went back to our room and prepared for tomorrow...zzzzz...at 4.15 am i woke up...prepared my self...pray for our safety....made some break1st...and off to the starting line at 7.00 am....at 7.30 am the race started...we as a team wait for the fast swimmer to take off first in order to avoid chaotic and after a minute later we started our journey...i was paired with mr Luvis and mr Raqib...thanks to mr Yip for gave me some tips for this event earlier...
after 5oom the wave started to be vicious...i was drifted away from my team...at this point i think that i need to swim at my own pace....after that, i was alone at the middle of the sea trying to swim to the mainland...the feeling was really scary....the wave really strong, and to be honest i was already 'mabuk laut'....after half way, we could see the finishing line and the mountains at the back seem near to us...actually the mountain can be seen from pulau kapas but somehow after the current strike me from behind honestly i cant see everything...what is exactly i mean is i was like in a pit where all the scary wave surrounded me...where the hell is the mountain that i just saw just now?... all i can see is only a wide open sea.....from this moment i noticed that i was actually being lifted by the wave so high as i can see those shore line which is approximate 3 km from my location...scary...
i have been told by the speed boat that i was off course twice...first boatman said that i was heading to jeti marang...so i set back my direction to swim a bit left...however the strong current drifted me away....second boatman ask me to go right as i already far from the finishing line...to swim against current is really a hard thing!....after 500m from the finishing line things get messy....at this point i noticed that i was actually swim motionless...damn...i try to 'katak' under the wave...it seems to work but i cant stand for a long time as i feel want to vomit...suddenly a jet ski came to me...the dude ask me to pull out as i already swim for 4 hour!...i ask what time is it now...the jet ski man told its already 11.30 am...what the heck?when i was on the jet ski, i realized that the weather is not good...later on it was raining...fuhhh lucky for me as i was not swimming in the middle of the sea while it was raining....could you imagine how scary it is?...at last i reached at pantai kelulut after 4 hr of swimming in the ocean...this year was really tough as many swimmer drifted far away from the finishing point...most of them are 1st timer like me...what to do?just pray as i was safe during the race even though i just made until the last 500m...total time was 4 hour of horrible 6 km swim...
the buoy was supposed to be 6, but i was only saw 1 buoy which is the last one...the last buoy was 400m from the finishing line...the other buoy might also drifted away due to heavy wind that result with strong current...even the 1st buoy had already vanished...conclusion, this race was really challenging...alhamdulillah as i was not encountered with those jellyfish and cramps...except those zzzzzz...plankton!....thanks to all crew from ombak swimming club, all swimming coach, cant wait to swim together again! and supporters especially my manager mr Abg alit shoewww and family, mr Abg yan and family....hope that we can participate again in this event some where in the future! ;) tBc
p/s : looking forward to swim again next year...with a lot of crew hopefully! ;)
